Café Noisette consists of vocalist Kaya Tokuhisa, pianist Rok Lopatič, and accordionist Žiga Vehovec. Although all three come from different musical backgrounds, they are united by their love of performing chansons.

Kaya and Rok met at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT), where they studied French chanson under Professor Žare Prinčič—Kaya as a student and Rok as an in-house accompanist. Kaya’s singing is marked by expressive interpretation, which she further refined during her master’s studies in theatrical singing. The idea of concert evenings dedicated to chanson gradually developed, and to enrich the sound, they invited accordionist Žiga Vehovec to join the project. Café Noisette thus took on its complete form and held its debut concert in 2018 as part of the Poleti v NUK festival.

The members are connected by their shared love of chanson, which they perform in French, Slovenian, and Italian, occasionally also venturing into other musical worlds. Their repertoire includes well-known songs by iconic artists such as Édith Piaf, Juliette Gréco, Fabrizio de André, and Frane Milčinski-Ježek. In addition, they perform a wide selection of original compositions by Barbara Kobal. The lyrics explore a variety of themes, all united by a strong atmospheric quality that paints contrasting emotional landscapes—from the melancholy of a twilight autumn evening to the brightness of a rain-washed summer sky.

The members support, educate, and complement each other musically, resulting in chansons that always sound fresh, original, and alive.
