The Judo Club Izola is a club for children and youth who engage in sports activities for recreational purposes, focusing on health, social belonging and education. It also places special emphasis on talented children and adolescents, involving them in specialized training and guiding them towards quality and elite sports.
Training sessions are led by professionally qualified coaches educated at the Faculty of Sports in Ljubljana. Among them is Iztok Babič, former coach of a nationally recognized sports school for talented athletes, previously funded by the Ministry of Sports. Now retired, je volunteers to pass on his knowledge to young coaches. He also coached Andreja Leški, gold medalist at the Paris Olympics in 2024, for over 10 years. The head coach is Jaša Babič, a graduate in sports training from the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Sports.
The club offers programs for various age groups: Judo Kindergarten (age 5-7), Small Judo School (beginners age 8-10), intermediate group (age 8-10), boys and girls (age 10-15), Juniors (age 15-20).
Through training participants learn judo techniques such as falls, throws and groundwork. Additionally, they develop physical fitness and motor skills through athletic and gymnastic exercises in various formats, such as circuit training or obstacle courses.
