On the initiative of nada Morato, a publicist and researcher of history and traditions, association was established 30 years ago to preserve and promote the culture of the local community. KD Korte engages in publishing, promotes the language, including dialects and adapts its activities based on interest. Over the years, it has supported a bell-ringing group, a children’s folklore group, a drama club, carnival celebrations, a women’s association and a choir or vocal group.
The association is credited with preventing the discontinuation of the rural bibliobus. KD Korte is also maintaining monuments and memorials dedicated to notable locals, organizes cultural events and ensures the environment maintenance. In the renovated hall of community home, Primorska poje and theatrical performances returned. Award-winning works from ex-tempor painters are displayed in the association’s museum-gallery room. The room also exhibits ethnological artifacts, publications, photographs of the Kašler archaeological site and the former library.
During the pandemic, the association reinforced its design, photography and film activities, focusing on producing videos and films about carnival traditions, long-forgotten customs and old recipes.
