At Alga Gallery, new works by emerging and yet to be established painters and sculptors are exhibited every month.

The gallery officially opened during the Izola municipal holiday in 1982, following the initiative of members of the LIK Izola art association and the then Union of Cultural Organizations. Initially, the gallery focused on showcasing the works of association’s members. However, it soon began hosting artists from other amateur art groups in Slovenia and individual artists whose works demonstrated high artistic quality.

Over the years, the gallery has frequently hosted, and continues to host, international artists from Croatia, Serbia and Italy.
