MRK brings together musicians from different backgrounds and cultural environments, which is reflected in an open, contrasting, and distinctly atmospheric sound. The project’s name comes from the concept of an “eclipse” – a moment where light and darkness meet – and represents the central idea of music that moves between clear, energetic sections and deeper, more restrained sonic layers.

The sound of the project is based on the prominent role of wind instruments – trumpet and saxophone – which deliver brighter, expressive lines, while a strong rhythm section and effect-laden keyboards create contrasting depth and spatial breadth. MRK’s music sits at the intersection of jazz, contemporary instrumental music, and experimental approaches, with a clear emphasis on dynamics, rhythm, and sonic contrasts. An important part of the soundscape is also the inspiration of space and its silence, giving the music a sense of expansiveness, movement, and airiness.
