A sweet and gentle girl, no bigger than a thumb, is kidnapped by a deceitful old toad. With the help of the children, she manages to escape into the forest, where a kind-hearted field mouse saves her from the cold winter. In return, however, Thumbelina is expected to marry a boring mole.

The swallow is the only one who could help Thumbelina, but she has succumbed to the bitter cold and her heartbeat can no longer be heard… But perhaps she is not really dead. Perhaps her friends can help, and perhaps it is true that swallows bring good luck.

Our Thumbelina is a story about courage and true love that can overcome anything. It is a story about a strength that does not come from the size of one’s body, but from the purity of one’s heart, and about finding yourself and your place in a world of people who are bigger and different.

We will learn a great deal about the world, about the people we meet along the way in life and about how important it is to remain true to ourselves. And through the happy ending of one of Andersen’s most beautiful fairy tales, we will also discover that after every rainstorm the sun eventually shines again – especially when we are kind, honest and have earned that sunshine.

The performance will take place on Saturday, 30 January 2027, at 5:00 PM at the Izola Cultural Centre.

The ticket price for the performance is €7.
