{"id":58535,"date":"2026-10-06T12:37:44","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T11:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/center-izola.si\/dogodki\/storje-sz-skrinje-predstavitev-knjige\/"},"modified":"2026-10-06T12:39:01","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T11:39:01","slug":"storje-sz-skrinje-predstavitev-knjige","status":"publish","type":"dogodki","link":"https:\/\/center-izola.si\/en\/events\/storje-sz-skrinje-predstavitev-knjige\/","title":{"rendered":"\u0160TORJE SZ \u0160KRINJE \/\/ BOOK PRESENTATION"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What lies hidden in a chest of memories?<\/strong> Old photographs, stories, dialect words, fragments of everyday life and the stories of people that, if left unwritten, might slowly fade into oblivion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are warmly invited to the presentation of the book <strong>\u0160torje sz \u0161krinje<\/strong> by <strong>Mirella Baruca<\/strong>, a Koper native born in Trieste, who seeks out and records stories of people, places and memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The book presentation will take place on <strong>Tuesday, 20 October 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Izola Cultural Centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the heart of the book is her <strong>grandmother Vanca<\/strong>, through whose memories Koper and Slovenian Istria in the second half of the 20th century come to life once again. The author collected the stories from personal memories, conversations with people, old photographs and local history materials, and recorded them in a language imbued with the spirit of home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Assoc. Prof. Dr Ne\u017ea \u010cebron Lipovec wrote about the book, Mirella offers us, from the <em>\u201cdusty chest of collective memory\u201d<\/em>, an album of images that weave together a rich network of shared memories. Prof. Dr Sandra Ba\u0161i\u0107 Hrvatin, meanwhile, places grandmother Vanca at the heart of the story \u2013 the narrator of her own life, through whom we walk the streets of a town that no longer exists as it once did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cIf we do not write a story down, it may disappear.
